It’s me, Jack. Thanks so much for visiting my website. My new tag line is “the most famous comedian no one’s ever heard,” which I think is rather clever and funny but might actually be neither. I started doing comedy at the University of Leeds, as part of the Tealights (we were named best student sketch group). I was there studying Chinese, which could have given me the opportunity to do a really great, secure job, but I’m doing this instead because I’m an idiot.
Since graduating I’ve started doing stand up. In Edinburgh I performed as part of the Pleasance Comedy Reserve and Comedy Zone showcases. Outside of Edinburgh I’ve supported James Acaster, Patrick Kielty and Joe Lycett on their UK tours, they’re all lovely legends. If you want to know what my comedy’s like, just imagine spreading out the paper of jokes, sprinkling the herb of stories, rolling up a big comedy doobie and sparking it up with my fiery personality. Then toking deep on irie comedy vibes all night long.
“An inventive flourish behind his likeable banter… a distinctive wit that should make him one to watch” – Steve Bennett, Chortle
“Instantly likeable” –Three Weeks
“Barry is Eddie Izzard-like in his excellent use of callbacks… a chipper, friendly, and optimistic performer with a strong debut hour of stand-up and enormous potential…I anticipate the rest of his career with great interest.” –Broadway Baby
“Barry is so laid back he’s almost horizontal” **** The List
“A pleasing, assured presence…a degree of skill that belies his youth.” Fest
**** Edinburgh Reporter
When I get lonely doing all of the sweet sweet stand up comedy on my own, I also like to perform with my identical twin sister from another mister, Annie McGrath. Our double act is called Twins, and it’s really fun.
